What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation and focused attention to help you explore and change unhelpful thoughts, behaviours and habits.
What does hypnosis feel like?
It is a calm, deeply relaxed state. You remain aware of what is happening and can hear and respond throughout the process. It is a subjective experience so people will experience it in different ways.
Is hypnotherapy safe?
Hypnotherapy is a safe and effective therapeutic tool when delivered appropriately by a trained practitioner. You remain aware and in control throughout the session.
Can I get stuck in hypnosis?
You cannot get stuck in hypnosis. Hypnosis is a temporary state of focused attention and relaxation. You can naturally come out of it at any time. At the end of your session, you will be guided gently back to your normal level of awareness.
Will I be in control?
Absolutely. You always remain in control and cannot be made to do anything against your wishes or values.
Is hypnotherapy like stage hypnosis?
No. Although both use hypnosis with consent and the participants' willingness to take part.
Hypnotherapy and stage hypnosis have very different purposes. Stage hypnosis is primarily for entertainment, often in front of an audience, whereas hypnotherapy is a therapeutic process designed to support personal change and wellbeing.
What can hypnotherapy help with?
It may help with stress and anxiety, fears and phobias, confidence and self-esteem, unwanted habits, smoking cessation, sleep difficulties, performance and many more, please ask if you are unsure.
How many sessions will I need?
Everyone is different. This depends on your individual goals and circumstances; we can discuss this during your initial consultation. Usually between 1-3 sessions is required for habit rewiring.
Will it work for me?
Everyone responds differently, and no therapy can guarantee a particular outcome. Being open to the process and willing to make positive changes can help you get the most from your sessions.
Is hypnotherapy right for me?
During your consultation, we can discuss your needs and goals and whether hypnotherapy is appropriate for you. Feeling comfortable, safe and able to trust your therapist can be an important part of the therapeutic process. When you feel at ease and able to speak openly without fear of judgement, you may find it easier to engage with the therapy and work towards your goals.
